PSST… Where to Stay When You Visit Denver

Denver hosts more than 17 million visitors every year which makes it one of the country’s most visited cities. And, if you spend a day or two surrounded by our region’s stunning landmarks, beautiful homes, eclectic food scene and urban, artistic culture, it’s easy to find out why so many people want to be here.

But the first step to any visit is deciding where to stay. If you want to be right in the heart of the city, you definitely won’t be short on options. To help you narrow them down, we rounded up a few of our favorite hotels in the city—from Art Deco lodgings to unique digs in the center of Denver.

The Maven

Why people love it: Unique location in the artsy Dairy Block, casual atmosphere, and spa-like rooms.

The lowdown: The Maven in LoDo (Lower Downtown) is perfect for those who just want to relax. From the hanging chairs on every level to the Airstream out back that serves ice-cold margaritas—the Maven allows you to let loose and really enjoy Denver’s casual atmosphere. But that doesn’t mean this boutique hotel is lacking class. Each of their 172 rooms is bursting with sculptures, paintings, and photographs all produced by Colorado artists. All that and its hip location in Dairy Block, one of Denver’s newest artsy developments, will give you a true taste of what the Mile High City is all about.

Things to do in the area: The Alley at Dairy Block, Denver’s Milk Market, Falling Rock Tap House, 1UP Arcade Bar, and Denver’s Union Station.

Kimpton Hotel Born

Why people love it: Floor-to-ceiling windows, pet-welcoming amenities, and convenient location in Union Station.

The lowdown: Located in Denver’s famous Union Station, Hotel Born is an urban refuge. Full of natural architectural details and art curated by the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (which you can visit for just a penny by showing your key card), is a 200-room hotel that feels like a classy Rocky Mountain resort. Not only is Hotel Born an oasis for humans, but they also offer complimentary, faux-fur pet beds and food and water bowls for your furry companions, who are welcome to stay with you. As for other special amenities, don’t miss the daily wine reception, which runs from 5 to 6 p.m. in the lobby, where you can kick off your Denver evening with a free glass of vino or local craft beer.

The Brown Palace

Why people love it: Historic decor, luxurious amenities, and an afternoon tea service.

The lowdown: The Brown Palace opened more than a century ago in 1892. Today, it still exudes luxury with 241 distinct guestrooms and suites and celebrated amenities meant to spoil their guests. Enjoy twice-daily maid service, plush terry robes, complimentary WiFi and pure artesian water from their own well. The hotel also boasts six unique restaurants and bars, a boutique spa and a stunning location in downtown Denver. Even if you aren’t planning on staying the night at the Brown, you should still stop by for afternoon tea, which features an old-fashioned tea service including scones, pastries, and adult beverages, and is a favorite pastime for many Denverites.

The Source Hotel & Market Hall

Why people love it: Unique marketplace, panoramic mountain views, and plenty of local, contemporary decor.

The lowdown: Settled in RiNo (River North Arts District), the Source Hotel is an eight-story, 100-room boutique hotel that is more than just a place to sleep. Full of clean, modern amenities and featuring a breathtaking view of the Denver skyline, the Source is one of the most unique places to stay in the city. Upstairs, you’ll find a rooftop gastropub, beer garden, and pool terrace so you can party while staring out at the Rocky Mountains. But it’s the market hall that truly makes the Source standout. One of Denver’s famous food halls, The Source features 25 independent food and retail vendors for you to explore—all located in a refurbished iron foundry.

Halcyon

Why people love it: Fabulous amenities, outdoor exploration opportunities, and an amazing location in Cherry Creek.

The lowdown: Settled in Cherry Creek North’s retail area, this 154-room hotel looks like a swanky condo building, practically oozing luxury and charm. Marketed as a “non-hotel”, the Halcyon works to make you feel at home with cozy decor and art, high-speed WiFi, freshly baked treats at the Kitchen Counter, and an in-room Nespresso espresso maker. And the included amenities are nothing to sneeze at! The Ramble Hotel

Why people love it: Incredible in-house restaurant and bar, Instagrammable rooms, and bustling location in one of Denver’s hottest neighborhoods.

The lowdown: Nestled in the heart of RiNo, Denver’s hippest neighborhood, The Ramble Hotel is a 50-room, boutique hotel that has been incredibly decorated. Featuring lush, retro furnishings and vintage details, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time to old Hollywood. The Curtis

The lowdown: Recently named as one of the best art hotels in the United States by USA Today, the Curtis Hotel is a vibrant destination for any art lover. Throughout the downtown building, you’ll find an outstanding collection of pop art, created by local Colorado and nationally renowned artists. Each floor of the hotel is themed, featuring eye-catching art and installations designed to make you smile. Look for photographs and posters from the musical Hair on the Big Hair Floor (the 9th floor). And get a taste of pure evil on Dun Dun Dunnnnn! NATIV Hotel

The lowdown: The smallest boutique hotel on this list, NATIV is a 14-room downtown destination that features three full bars, an exclusive VIP room, and an intimate Stereo Lounge. Located just steps away from the 16th Street Mall and in the middle of Denver’s distinctive fine dining district, NATIV is a modern escape in the thick of it all!

The Crawford

The lowdown: More than a hotel, The Crawford Hotel is a place to meet, shop, eat, drink and sleep—right above Denver’s famous Union Station. Hotel Indigo Denver Downtown

Why people love it: Stunning architectural features, swanky LoDo location, and a plethora of fantastic dining options.

The lowdown: Hotel Indigo Denver, one of the city’s newest boutique-style hotels, opened its doors in downtown Denver’s thriving LoDo neighborhood in 2017. The LEED-Certified building, designed by internationally recognized architectural and engineering firm John Portman & Associates, features a multi-faceted façade of stacked elements, including inviting transparent glass on the ground floor, perforated metal screening and floor-to-ceiling glazing. The artwork evokes memories of the Colorado gold rush, which put Denver on the map on its way to prosperity. And even though the hotel is located among some of Denver’s best restaurants, local favorite Hearth & Dam is located right on Hotel Indigo’s first floor.

Moxy Denver Cherry Creek
