Create your own masterpiece at the Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus. You can glaze a clay item you have already fired or choose from their selection of bisque ware.

After painting away, and for a small fee, your piece will be fired in their kilns. A kiln is a large oven made especially for baking clay. Their kilns go up to 2000 degrees and will make your clay creation hard and solid so it can last for years to come.

The National Western Stock Show is celebrating 111 years in Denver with its annual parade, nearly 30 professional rodeo performances, world-class horse shows and the “Super Bowl” of livestock shows.

This Saturday, the stock show kicks-off with the third annual BBQ Throwdown. The BBQ Throwdown features 40 teams that will compete in a wide range of categories including pork, ribs, chicken, and brisket. Each team competes for the coveted Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion titles.

Festivities include: BBQ competitor viewing, live music, culinary demos, grill giveaways, free samples, a Kids Zone, and a Chili Cook-Off!

The Central Children’s Library will be hosting the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC) for an art workshop. Learn about the “Luchador”, an art of wrestling entertainment that is very popular throughout Mexico and the United States.

Come learn what it’s all about and make your own Luchador Mask! While you’re at the library, take a look at Niño Wrestles the World and Rudas: Niño’s Horrendous Hermanitas by Yuyi Morales for fun children’s stories about young luchadores.
