Denver’s Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group (KTRG) will open a new restaurant, Hickory & Ash, at Arista Broomfield in March 2017. Kevin Taylor will open the 5,000 sq. ft. restaurant in partnership with his son, Ryan Taylor, who will serve as Hickory & Ash’s executive chef.

Hickory & Ash will feature a live hickory grille, and lunch, dinner and brunch menus heavy with sustainably and locally-sourced produce; craft cocktails, local beers and an extensive wine list will also be available. The space, designed by Kevin Taylor and Riddick Semple, will feature rustic décor, 120 seats, two private dining rooms and a 60-seat outdoor patio.

Ryan started in the restaurant business at age 15, and has since held positions at Mugaritz, a two Michelin starred restaurant in San Sebastian, Spain, as well as a selection of popular Denver restaurants, including Kevin Taylor’s at the Opera House, where he is currently executive chef.

“I’m excited to be involved in Hickory & Ash as both a chef and partner,” says Ryan Taylor. “I’m looking forward to developing everything – from the design, to the team, to the menu – from the ground-up.”

“We’re excited to move beyond our white-tablecloth roots,” says Kevin Taylor. “Hickory & Ash will provide a more casual, yet still very chef-driven environment, and we think it will be well received by those who live, work and play in the thriving Arista development.”

Arista, a 200-acre master-planned community, currently includes RTD Park-n-ride Broomfield Station, multi-family homes and apartments, a University of Colorado Health Broomfield Hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado therapy center, office buildings, an Aloft Hotel, the Arista Place town center with restaurants and shops, neighborhood parks and the 1ST Bank Center. KTRG had planned to open Kevin Taylor Steak in the development before the economic recession hit and stalled the community’s development in 2009.

“We’ve been looking forward to bringing Kevin Taylor and his restaurant group to Arista for years,” says Tim Wiens, of Wiens Real Estate Ventures, the development company behind Arista. “Now, the community is booming, and there’s never been a better time.”

KTRG also operates Palettes at the Denver Art MuseumKevin Taylor’s at the Opera House and Limelight Supper Club & Lounge, as well as several catering operations within the Denver Performing Arts Complex and Denver Art Museum.
