Psst… Ed Sheeran at Red Rocks Amphitheatre Concert Review

When going to a concert, you usually want to be as close to the performer as possible…

I attended the Ed Sheeran concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on June 29, 2015.

I was super excited for the concert, until we actually got there. Ever since I found out that I was going to the concert, I was under the impression that we had reserved seats up close. I spent months fantasizing and planning for the concert. I put Ed Sheeran on repeat from the day I found out I was going. I wanted to know every word to every song of his, and eventually I did. I am not the only person who would do that, right? I thought it would be nice to sing along to every song, and enjoy it.

When the day of the concert finally came, I could not contain my excitement, I felt ecstatic. I did my makeup the way I planned, and wore the outfit I had literally bought the day before. Then came the two hour drive to Morrison, Colorado. I was going to the concert with some friends so we all got there at 6:30pm. The concert scheduled to start at 7:30pm. There was no line to get in when we got there. Once we finally got into the amphitheatre, every row was filled besides a few at the top.

That is when I realized we did not have reserved seats, but general admission ones. Instead of being near the front, we were in the very last row. I was honestly super disappointed. At that point, the only thoughts running through my head were negative. I was recovering from being sick (cough drops were my best friend during the concert) and it seemed like my night was going downhill. When the band opening up for Ed came out, I could barely see them. I was really looking forward to jamming out to Rixton just as much as I was for Ed Sheeran. Rixton came out hyped and ready to rock the crowd.

That is when I realized how lucky I was to actually be there!

Even if I was in the back row, it was better than not going at all.

Being at the top gave me a better perspective on how to pick out the positives instead of the negatives.

The view from the top was lovely. You could see the whole crowd in front of you. They were dancing, singing, and screaming. You could see Rixton dancing and enjoying the concert. Behind the stage, you had a beautiful view of the red rocks, the hills, and the city behind it. After Rixton rocked the stage, Ed Sheeran came out to finish the job. By the time he came out, it started to get dark. Every person that was in view had a smile on their face. They were dancing and singing along to the artist that had come so far to do what he loves. I now have such a high appreciation and respect for him and what he does. It was incredible to be able to witness history being made. I no longer thought about how it sucked to be in the back, but how phenomenal it was just to experience it.

Ed Sheeran Concert Denver 2015

When the sun finally went down, you were able to see how truly remarkable Red Rocks actually is. The red rocks on the sides were lit up. To the right of me, the moon, almost full, was sitting right next to the lit up red rock. There was a lake in the distance that reflected the moons light. It was a view that I had never seen before, and most likely never will get the chance to see again. As you looked beyond the lit up stage with its lights flashing across the crowd, you saw the city lit up for miles. When you looked up, you were able to see the stars winking at you from above. The temperature was perfect, and Ed Sheeran’s voice soothed each person into a calming trance. In that moment, I was almost able to experience complete perfection. I feel like you can’t say whether a performer is truly good or not until you have seem him or her in concert. During a concert, they sing song after song. While they are performing, they have to keep the audience engaged and entertained. I felt that Ed did a very impressive job with this. His performance did not seem small, even though it was just him and his guitar.

Ed Sheeran is a true artist and overflowing with talent that every person should get the chance to experience. Not only is an Ed Sheeran concert something worth experiencing, but also the ambiance of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre!
