Psst… Coors Light South Platte RiverFest

The 3rd Annual South Platte RiverFest, sponsored by Coors Light and benefiting The Greenway Foundation, is a FREE festival that takes place over 2 days this weekend.

Today, Saturday, June 27th and tomorrow, Sunday, June 28th, 2015 at Confluence Park in downtown Denver, this two-day event will feature stand-up paddle boarding lessons and demos, a variety of water and river activities, fitness classes, live music, food, and drink.

What To Expect:

Coors Light South Platte RiverFest

  •  The stand-up paddle boards (SUP) will be available to try out in a large 30′ x 60′ pool. Participants will be assisted onto a SUP board, given basic instructions, and given a chance to maneuver around the pool.
  • An artist competition both for children under the age of 15 and for adults 16 years and over. Create a piece of art work on Saturday during the festival and turn in by 10 pm Sat., June 27th, and festival attendees will vote for their favorite Sunday morning, and the winner will be announced at 2 pm on Sunday!Registration for the competition costs $5 for the under 15s group and $10 for the over 16 group.   • A trout casting contest that will take place on Sunday, June 28th between 12pm – 2pm with prizes announced at 2:30pm. Target will be in the water (with each target getting more difficult). Competitors will have 5 minutes to cast and the competitor in each age group with the highest points will win a prize. Fly rods will be supplied but competitors can bring their own. Prizes by  3 age groups: under 12, 13- 18, 19+. Registration costs $5 and applications for the contest can be filled at the festival.

The South Platte RiverFest benefits The Greenway Foundation. For the past 40 years, The Greenway Foundation has worked to reclaim, restore, and revitalize the South Platte River and its tributaries in Denver. These efforts have led to the construction of over 100 acres of riverside parks, over 100 miles of interconnected greenway trails, and the elimination of over 250 sources of direct pollution into our urban waterways.
