Psst… 9 Events You Can’t Miss at Boulder Arts Week

Boulder Arts Week honors the community’s vibrant arts and cultural offerings, featuring more than 350 events around Boulder. Taking place from March 31 – April 7 2017, over 1,000 artists will participate in Boulder’s annual art celebration. Check out this fun variety of art events  Boulder Arts Week events taking place throughout the week – ranging from dance and theater to comedy and visual arts.

BRIAH Danse

Love dance? BRIAH Danse opens Boulder Arts Week with the world premiere of ‘ Three Worlds’ – collaborating with dancers, visual artists and fabric artists. Tickets available here, $10 – $35

When: Preview on Friday, March 31 @ 7PM, Full Performance on Saturday April 1 @ 7:30 PM & Sunday April 2 @ 4 PM

Boulder International Film Festival Shorts Program

Boulder International Film Festival short films programs are incredibly popular and sell out to enthusiastic audiences every year. Many of the shorts at BIFF have gone on to win awards and propel their makers to even greater projects. BIFF’s 2017 – Shorts Program One screening is FREE.

James and the Giant Peach

Phamaly Theatre Company presents the beloved tale, James and the Giant Peach. A fresh adaptation of Roald Dahl’s treasured novel, find yourself in an oversized peach with James and some human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities. Champion the kind-hearted and relish hope in a world filled with obstacles in this story for the whole family. Tickets available here, $12.

Megan Gafford: Hemisphere

BMoCA’s Spring 2017 Present Box features Megan Gafford’s site-specific installation titled Hemisphere, which transforms the windows of the museum into lenses that project constellation maps into the interior space. Gafford’s installation focuses on the cyclical nature of being, taking as its subject the constellations that are uniquely visible from BMoCA’s position on the globe. The study of the cosmos in both ancient and contemporary scientific thought has seen humankind frame myths, histories, and existential questions about life and death around the constellations. Cost: museum admission, $1.

When: Friday, March 31, Saturday, April 1, and Sunday April 2 from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Stories With Spirit: Tales Of Salt & Spice

Stories with Spirit joins forces with Savory Spice Shop for the 3rd year, with an unforgettable evening of spicy stories and savory smells. Rachel Ann Harding and Cooper Braun will perform stories from around the world about salt, spices, chocolate, and food. Dan Hayward of Savory Spice will tell us all a little about the history of spices and provide some delicious nibbles. Tickets available here, $10 also available at the door. Please be advised that Savory Spice is not a traditional venue. This is a BYOC (bring your own chair) event.

When: Sunday, April 2 @ 5:30 PM

The Indigo Girls & University of Colorado Boulder Symphony Live Recording

Indigo Girls return to Boulder for a collaborative recording session with the CU Symphony Orchestra and conductor Gary Lewis. Expect to hear classic Indigo Girls hits, including “Closer to Fine” and “Least Complicated,” and songs from the duo’s latest album release, “One Lost Day.” Tickets available here, $25.

Please note that this event is a live recording session. Artists may stop, start and restart songs and may ask for audience participation or silence at some points during the recording. There will be no intermission.

ZOSO – The Ultimate Led Zepplin Experience

ZoSo – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience formed in 1995 to perform the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing. ZoSo is more than a tribute, it’s about touching a golden era in music. ZoSo embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, talent and authenticity. Tickets available here, $15- $18.

NoBo Art District First Friday

First Friday is a self-guided tour of artists’ studios and creative businesses in the NoBo Art District.  Meet painters, sculptors, photographers, designers and other artists along your stroll through the area.  Enjoy live music, demos and special activities in many locations.  Follow the polka dots and pink flags to find surprises around every corner. FREE.

When: Friday April 7, 6-9:00 PM
