Psst… 1940’s White Christmas Ball

1940’s White Christmas Ball | The Denver Ear

On Saturday, December 3rd 2016, the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport will be transformed to look like a scene right out of Irving Berlin’s classic holiday film for the 7th annual 1940’s White Christmas Ball.

Celebrating its seventh year, the large-scale charity ball will spark the imagination of over 2,000 guests with a magical holiday party straight out of the 1940’s.

Guests will enjoy live music, costumes, reenactments of classic holiday films, sleigh rides, food, drinks, and dancing. The annual sell-out event raises money for the The Colorado 10th Mountain Division and The Commemorative Airforce.

What to Expect at the 1940’s White Christmas Ball

With a canopy of lights, Christmas trees, and tinsel, the 1940’s White Christmas Ball will feature big band music from the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, and the Hot Tomatoes.

Additional entertainment will include a vintage Vegas tribute show with Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Judy Garland, plus a very special appearance by The Satin Dollz, Hollywood’s 1940’s tap dancing and singing performance troupe.

Guests can also expect re-enactments from the classic films “White Christmas” and “It’s A Wonderful Life,”  sleigh rides and pictures with Santa, and the opportunity to mingle and dance among classic cars, WWII planes, props and lights from old movie sets, and take a sleigh ride.

The evening’s entertainment will also include Blue Stocking Burly Q, swing dance demonstrations and lessons, and a dance contest.

The Christmas Ball has become a special holiday tradition,” stated creator Khyentse James. “We aim to transport our guests back to a time when Bing Crosby’s rendition of favorite Christmas carols would crackle over the record player. We want our guests to feel as though they have stepped onto the set of ‘White Christmas’ and help them rediscover the joy and wonder from Christmases past.”
