Alamo Drafthouse Sloans Lake | The Denver Ear

It used to be a parking lot, and after four years in the making, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has officially opened its newest location in the West Colfax neighborhood, adjacent to Sloans Lake in Denver.

If you’ve been part of The Denver Ear community for some time, you might have noticed that we have been Alamo Drafthouse Cinema supporters for a very long time. In fact, Alamo Drafthouse reached out to us to attend their media event due to us nearly “stalking” them with tags and articles for over two years.

That’s because you won’t find another cinema in or around the city of Denver, that resonates so well with Denver locals as much as this cinema. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema offers in-theater dining, special multi-course film feasts that are themed to specific films and in-person appearances by filmmakers talent!

The newest Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Sloans Lake features eight screens with a total of 778 seats, all in Sony 4K Digital with three screens dedicated to RealD 3D as well as BarFly, the theater’s interior bar and lounge space where cinema-goers can enjoy food, drinks and curated live programming.

BarFly, was inspired by the film penned by Charles Bukowski, and is dedicated to Denver’s storied literary past. With an interior theme featuring portraits of Beat writers and luminaries along with an array of vintage typewriters, BarFly will feature its own unique programming curated by Creative Director Steve Bessette. BarFly’s taps will also showcase a deep array of 32 great local beers, as well as a curated menu of fine hand-crafted cocktails.

“Our team is looking forward to programming awesome nightly events including poetry readings, trivia nights, live music, comedy, vaudeville, live podcasts, panels and so much more,” said Alamo Drafthouse Denver Creative Director, Steve Bessette. “We’re fans of experimentation and there will be plenty of that at BarFly.”

The Sloans Lake location in-theater dining is available in all eight theaters, and features a full menu curated by Denver Executive Market Chef Seth Rexroad, who has designed and executed over 150 Alamo Drafthouse Littleton’s trademark feasts and dinners.
